TEST PROCEDURE

Collect urine in a clean, dry container. Immediately after collection, dip more than half of the absorbent tip into the urine. Caution: Ensure that only the absorbent tip gets wet during sampling, keeping the rest of the test dry.

Dip absorbent tip

OR

Hold the test with the absorbent tip pointing downwards in your urine stream. Caution: Ensure only the absorbent tip gets wet during sampling, keeping the rest of the test dry.

Hold in urine stream

The hourglass symbol ⧖ will flash on the display screen. Caution: Do not hold the test with the absorbent tip pointing upwards after adding the sample.

After about ten seconds, you will hear two beeps. Then, remove the test from the urine. Lay the test flat with the display screen facing upward. Wait for 5 minutes until you hear another two beeps, then read the results on the display screen.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Quick Start

When should I collect urine?
You can test with any urine sample. For the most reliable early result, use first-morning urine, as it contains the highest concentration of the pregnancy hormone (hCG).

When to read the result?
The digital display shows your result in about 5 minutes. Once the result appears, read it promptly. Do not attempt to interpret the test after the display turns off.

What results can I expect to see?

“Pregnant” = hCG detected.

“Not Pregnant” = No hCG detected.

Error symbol = Test did not run correctly.

Using and Timing

How early can I test?
The test can be used up to 5 days before your missed period (4 days before you expect your period). If you test early and see “Not Pregnant,” you may still be pregnant—hCG may simply be too low to detect. Wait 48 hours and test again.

When during the day should I test?

If testing before your missed period, use first-morning urine for best accuracy.

Once your period is late, time of day matters less—but avoid drinking excessive fluids beforehand, as this may dilute hCG.

I have irregular cycles. When should I test?
If your cycle timing is unclear, test at least 19 days after unprotected sex. If the result is “Not Pregnant” and your period does not arrive within one week, test again or speak with your healthcare provider.

Understanding Your Results

What does “Pregnant” mean?
The test detected hCG in your urine, indicating pregnancy. Contact your healthcare provider to confirm and discuss next steps. Be aware that sometimes a pregnancy may not continue (early pregnancy loss).

What does “Not Pregnant” mean?
You may not be pregnant, or your hCG level may not yet be high enough to detect. If your period is late, retest after 48 hours. If you continue to see “Not Pregnant” and your period still does not come, consult your healthcare provider.

Can the result change if I wait too long to look at the screen?
No. The result remains stable on the display for a short time. Once the display turns off, do not attempt to interpret the test.

I got “Pregnant” before but now I see “Not Pregnant.” What does that mean?
This can happen in cases of early pregnancy loss (chemical pregnancy). Sadly, this is common and occurs in about 1 in 4 early pregnancies. Most people go on to have healthy pregnancies afterward.

Accuracy, Sensitivity & How It Works

How accurate is the test?
From the day of your expected period, the digital test is over 99% accurate at detecting the pregnancy hormone in laboratory studies.

What hormone does the test detect?
It detects hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in urine. The test’s analytical sensitivity is approximately 25 mIU/mL—this is the level at which hCG is reliably detected.

Why do I need to retest after 48 hours if negative?
In early pregnancy, hCG usually doubles every 48–72 hours. Retesting allows time for levels to rise high enough for detection.

Medications, Medical Conditions & Other Factors

Can medications affect the result?

May cause false positives: Fertility treatments containing hCG (trigger shots such as Pregnyl®, Profasi®). If you’ve received these, wait at least 10–14 days before testing.

Do not affect results: Clomiphene citrate (Clomid®), common painkillers, antibiotics, alcohol, birth control, or Plan B®.

Can health conditions affect the result?
Yes. A recent pregnancy (even if not carried to term), ectopic pregnancy, or rare medical conditions can cause misleading results. If you have symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, shoulder pain, dizziness, or heavy bleeding, seek medical care immediately.

Does a UTI or blood in urine affect results?
A UTI generally does not affect hCG detection. However, blood or extremely diluted urine can make results harder to read. Retest with a fresh sample if needed.

Troubleshooting

The screen shows an error. What should I do?
This means the test didn’t run correctly. Causes include:

• Not inserting the test stick fully.
• Removing it too soon.
• Dipping incorrectly.

Repeat the test with a new stick, carefully following the instructions.

The result disappeared before I could show someone. Can I reuse the test?
No. Each test is single-use only. The display automatically turns off after a short period.

How should I store the test?
Keep sealed in its pouch at room temperature. Do not use after the expiration date or if packaging is damaged.

Added FAQs We’re Often Asked

Will birth control or Plan B® cause a false positive?
No. They do not contain hCG and will not affect the result.

Can I test while spotting or bleeding?
Yes, but heavy bleeding may make it harder to interpret. If in doubt, retest in 48 hours with a fresh sample.

Can dehydration or over-hydration change results?
Yes. Excess fluids can dilute urine and make hCG harder to detect. First-morning urine is best if testing early.

Do I need to track “line progression”?
No. Unlike line tests, digital results show a clear “Pregnant” or “Not Pregnant.” The test is qualitative and not meant to monitor hormone levels.

I’m undergoing IVF or IUI—should I test differently?
Follow your clinic’s advice. Because fertility treatments often include hCG injections, testing too soon may cause a false positive.

About the Product

How does the digital test work?
When hCG in urine reaches the detection level, antibodies in the test stick react. The Reader interprets the signal and displays a clear “Pregnant” or “Not Pregnant” result.

Is the Reader reusable?
Yes. The Reader can be reused with new PREGMATE Digital Pregnancy Test Sticks. The sticks are single-use only.
