Who it's for

If you and your partner have been trying to conceive, a semen analysis is one of the first things worth checking, since male factors contribute to roughly half of fertility cases. YO lets you get that first look at home instead of scheduling a clinic appointment and producing a sample on site.

It is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. A result outside the normal range is a reason to see a urologist or fertility specialist, and the PDF report gives them something concrete to start from.

Testing tips
  • Abstain from ejaculation for 2 to 5 days before testing. Less or more than that can skew the reading.
  • Collect the full sample. A partial sample can lower the measured concentration.
  • Let the sample liquefy with the included powder before loading the slide, and follow the app timer.
  • Run more than one test on different days. Sperm counts vary week to week, so a single result is a snapshot.
  • Keep your phone still during recording so the video reads cleanly.

How does the YO Home Sperm Test work?

A small optical device turns your smartphone into a microscope. It records a live video of your sample and uses automated analysis to report five sperm parameters in the YO app.

How do I collect a sample for the YO Home Sperm Test?

Collect semen through masturbation into the clean container provided. Don't use lubricants, standard condoms, or saliva, since they can kill or slow sperm and make motility look falsely low. Abstain from ejaculation for 2–7 days before testing for the most representative result.

How long does the YO Home Sperm Test take?

The analysis takes about 20 minutes. Set aside about 30 minutes for the full process the first time, including setup and sample preparation. Don't let the sample sit longer than 30 minutes after adding the liquefaction powder, since motility can drop and skew the result.

What does the YO Home Sperm Test measure?

Five parameters: sperm concentration, motility (percentage of moving sperm), progressive motility (percentage swimming forward), motile sperm concentration (MSC), and progressive motile sperm concentration (PMSC). MSC is one of the most useful numbers in male fertility screening, because a high count means little if the sperm aren't moving.

Is the YO Home Sperm Test accurate?

Yes. It's FDA-cleared and showed 97% accuracy in clinical studies. Results can still be affected by collection technique and timing, so follow the instructions closely. YO is a screening tool, not a replacement for a full lab semen analysis, which also checks things like sperm shape (morphology).

Can it confirm vasectomy success?

No. YO isn't designed or FDA-cleared to confirm the absence of sperm after a vasectomy. Your provider will recommend a lab test for that.

What should I do if my results are low?

A single low result doesn't mean infertility. Sperm quality can shift with stress, illness, heat exposure, and lifestyle. Retest on another day to rule out a one-off result. If it's still low, see a urologist or fertility specialist and bring your PDF report.
